Choose to be Curious:  Voicing Curiosity

“The way that we know that curiosity is genuine in somebody’s voice is that they have tapped into this real desire, this real drive, this real motivation.” ~ Carol Cadby

How we say anything, how we punctuate our statements grammatically and verbally, all have tremendous impact on how we are heard and understood. So how do we say something in such a way that others hear curiosity? Actor, director, educator and executive coach Carol Cadby joins me to explore voicing curiosity. This episode first aired on WERA-LP in April 2020; refreshed for redistribution, August 2023.

When a man is accused of abducting half a dozen cats, it's a simple open-and-shut case, even for a jury that's filled with oddballs like a dim-witted PR flack, a bickering couple, an d a creep obsessed with french fries. After all, every scrap of evidence indicts the accused. (I mean so clearly. The man is very, very guilty of stealing cats. Case closed.) And yet, Juror #8, a wannabe lawyer, believes that the "Cat Burglar" is innocent. Will he be able to sway the other jury members? Or will they side with Juror #3, the only sane one in the room? A hilarious parody of 12 Angry Men. - Playwight Ian McWethy, 2001 YHS alum. Recorded live on Zoom June 2020
